I founded She FITNESS in 2008 after going through my own weight loss journey.
My life used to be very different a few years ago. I’ve always been a big eater and food lover, so much so that I had ballooned out to 104kg. I was always out of breath, felt miserable and had a low self-esteem. Then one day, I decided to do something about it. It took a few tries, but I lost 22kg through diet and exercise and kept it off.
My weight loss journey led to a passion for fitness. I decided to quit my corporate job to become a personal trainer and help others change their lives and get the best out of themselves.
I have completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), Certificate 4 in Personal Training and I am also a Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach and Level 1 CrossFit Trainer.
What I love most about She FITNESS is the diversity amongst our members – their different fitness levels, ages, and backgrounds; and how they all come together, have a great workout and develop friendships. It is something that is very unique and that you wouldn’t find in a gym or bootcamp environment.
I am always focused on being the best Coach that I can be. During each She FITNESS session I strive to give more of myself and do everything I can to motivate my clients to get the best out of themselves. My sessions are challenging, but rewarding. I am a stickler for perfect technique and I pride myself on the variety of my workouts as well as making sure that every workout is an awesome workout for each and every member.
The most rewarding feeling of being a She FITNESS Coach is seeing the results and positive changes in our members. This is what I look forward to waking up early each morning.
I am very fortunate to have such great members, as well as an awesome team of Coaches and an amazing wife to help make things possible.
My favourite saying is ‘Nothing changes, if nothing changes.’ I love dogs, steak, basketball and am a die-hard San Antonio Spurs fan! In my spare time I enjoy being active, eating, drinking and hanging out with my friends and family.

I haven’t always been athletic and have personally struggled with being overweight and unfit. Prior to becoming a She FITNESS Coach, I worked for five years in a stressful sales environment and the scales were tilted more towards work than life. I realised that the only person who could change this was me, so I gradually built up my training hours to reclaim my self-confidence and my life back.
As a result, I understand how hard it is to get motivated, keep fit, and to fight those extra inches. I did get there though with lots of perseverance and last year managed to complete the Sydney marathon! Having had this experience I wanted to help others get their work life balance back on track to achieve their goals knowing personally how good it feels to do so.
I joined She FITNESS because it’s values absolutely resonated with what I wanted to offer as a personal trainer; this is to genuinely care about our members whilst providing fun and effective workouts. I love the community of friendly faces we have built and the enthusiasm that all the members have to work hard and never give up.
No matter if it is torrential rain or beautiful blue skies, nothing beats training in the fresh air to have a positive impact on your day!
I am originally from the UK so coming to Australia has made me really appreciate the outdoor lifestyle. I enjoy travelling around the country, particularly with my tent in tow! Closer to home I love the beach culture and having BBQs with my friends. My interests are really to do any activities outdoors, scuba diving and visiting the local comedy club.
Nina van Rij (aka Shorty)
I am a She FITNESS Coach and have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. I became a personal trainer because of my passion for health and exercise and helping people achieve the goals that they set out to achieve. At She FITNESS I get to train women of all ages and fitness levels, and help them achieve their goals. These goals might be to become fitter, lose weight or overcome any challenge.
Training is my passion. I love it and I love sharing with others. I want to ensure that my clients are having as much fun as I am and that they want to push themselves that extra little bit so that they come closer to achieving their goals and overcoming all obstacles.
I personally like to set myself challenges every few weeks so that I have constant variety in my training sessions, and I believe this reflects in the way I train my clients. My upcoming challenges are to do a minimum of 10 pull ups, a single armed push up and a 10 minute plank.
I love running, swimming, cycling and weight training. After receiving my qualifications for being a personal trainer I got a scholarship for massage therapy which I like to incorporate with personal training. Group fitness is another one of my passions and I am currently in the process of becoming a Les Mills RPM instructor. I am a great fan of the outdoors and of summer, hence I love everything about She FITNESS.
My training style varies, but I train my clients according to their needs. I am there to motivate my clients and help them become fitter and stronger!
