Blog - St. Leonards Member of the Month for September – Mary Pilkington
Congratulations to Mary Pilkington for being the September Member of the Month for St. Leonards! It has been an awesome experience to be a part of Mary's journey into improving her health and fitness. She has showed what you can achieve through hard work, consistency and most of all a positive attitude! Mary is a great member to have in the group and is always super supportive of other members and any new members to the group who are starting their own journey. Below is some background to her journey with She Fitness so far.
When did you join She FITNESS?
I joined She Fitness in March this year
Why did you join She FITNESS?
I joined She Fitness because I needed to do something for me and look after my health and fitness. I signed up for 1 month initially and have continued it since.
What were your goals – what did you want to achieve?
My goals when joining She Fitness were to lose weight, feel healthy and fit. As well as do a hobby/fitness that was for me and ‘me time’. I thought joining a group and locking myself into sessions each week would help to create a good work life balance… And it has!
How did you feel when you started?
When I started I was so nervous, I had no confidence, unfit and unsure if I could do it.
What changes did you make to live a healthy lifestyle?
Since joining She Fitness I have had to make some lifestyle changes which have been positive. I have had to leave work earlier to make sessions, drink more water and go out less on a Friday night so I can perform my best on Saturday morning. I have also had to make diet choices to eat healthy and eat foods good for my body.
How do you feel now?
I have been going to boot camp 3 days a week for just over 6 months and it has changed my life! I feel so much happier, healthier, fitter and confident. I have more energy and feel good each day. Boot camp is a huge part of my life now and I am addicted. Since joining I have been able to take part in 3 fun runs and enjoy it.
How will you continue to support yourself and live a healthy lifestyle?
To continue to build a healthy lifestyle I will set myself goals, continue to go to 3 sessions each week and even up it to 4 and my own exercise. I have realised that diet is a huge component of a healthy lifestyle and weight loss. I will continue to monitor my diet and enjoy exercise.
What are your new goals?
My goals now as I go into my second 6 months of my journey is to do an extra session of She Fitness or a PT session with Jeremy. Eat fresh and healthy food…. The foods your body was designed for such as fruit, vegetables, meat, nuts and eggs. Drink more water and less wine. I would also love to do a half marathon next year!
How would you describe your experience so far with She Fitness?
I absolutely LOVE being a member of She Fitness! Jeremy is an incredible trainer who is very approachable, understands the strengths and challenges of all his clients. He makes the sessions fun but you know you are getting a good workout. I never thought I could go to She Fitness bootcamp but Jeremy made me feel comfortable from day one and is so supportive of personal goals and assists you to achieve them. He is encouraging and has a holistic approach. I can not thank Jeremy enough for everything his has done for me.
I have also loved She Fitness as I have met some other amazing girls. We go to all the sessions together, support each other through our journeys. We have a laugh and push each other. I have always felt comfortable with the other girls. Everyone is at different fitness levels, confidence and all types of body shapes and sizes but at the end of the session we are all there to have a go and achieve our goals. We help each other each step of the way. The girls are now my friends and we see each other outside of She Fitness sessions.
