When did you join She FITNESS?
I joined She FITNESS in October 2012
Why did you join She FITNESS?
My housemate Kim had joined the year before and was looking to get back into it. I had been complaining about how I'd put on some weight and she convinced me to come along to a trial session.
What were your goals ? What did you want to achieve?
My major motivation initially was to lose about 5kg. Everything else came secondary to that goal in the first 6 months, but as I became stronger and fitter my focus shifted. The weight became less important and my fitness goals began to take over. Last year I decided to run the City2Surf, this was a great motivator for me and something I’d never imagined I’d be able to do. I’m running again this year and I’m confident I will be able to beat my time and I’m even considering a half marathon!
How did you feel when you started?
I felt terrible. I was unfit, uncoordinated and unmotivated; the first few weeks were a real struggle. The support of the other girls and the one-on-one help Anuschka provided was the reason I kept coming back and before long it started to get a little easier.
What changes did you make to live a healthy lifestyle?
I walk a lot! Before I wouldn’t think twice about jumping in a cab to avoid a walk, now I factor it into my day. I also run regularly alongside attending bootcamp and my diet is completely transformed. When I saw the results of the training I didn’t want to ruin my efforts by eating badly or missing a session.
How do you feel now?
I feel fitter, stronger and about 5kg lighter!
How will you continue to support yourself and live a healthy lifestyle?
SheFitness really works for me and fits in with my lifestyle perfectly- I’ll continue to attend 3 times a week alongside my running. Being from the UK I also feel really lucky to be able to exercise outside and I really enjoy that aspect of SheFitness.
What are your new goals?
I’ll be running the City2Surf again this year and if all goes to plan I would love to attempt the Sydney Half Marathon next year.
How do you feel about your She Fitness trainer and training buddies?
I love the support of the other girls and of course my trainer Anuschka, even if you’re having a bad day you know you have a support network that will help get you through the session.
Any advice for women thinking of joining She Fitness?
Don’t think too much about it, just do it! The more you think the more excuses you will come up with. Also don’t be afraid of your fitness levels, when I started I couldn’t run 400meters or do a push up- if I can do it anyone can!
CONGRATULATIONS, Suzanne and keep up the good work!
